Next job was to cut and fix the ribs in place. The two main ribs for the shutter went in first. The inner layer has a raised part to form the upstand around the aperture of the shutter opening. These ribs are fixed to the rings with strong steel brackets. There are three secondary ribs on each side. These are fixed at the top using hinges - this “feels all wrong” but works really well - an idea well established amongst dome builders!
